Man arrested after reportedly firing gun into the air

A Rome man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly firing a gun into the air on East 13thStreet.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 26-year old Ashton Kierre Poole also struck a woman with his fists and hands in the presence of a minor.

Poole is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, reckless conduct, discharge of a firearm on the property of another, battery, criminal trespass, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.


According to the Gordon County Sheriff's Office, Tony Tran, age 24, of a Pine Chapel Road address, was very seriously injured when he jumped out of a moving car during an argument with his spouse.
The incident occurred at around 8 a.m. Sunday on Thor Drive near Calhoun.
Highway 27 North near Dugger Drive is open again after being shut down in both directions for a couple of hours Saturday.
Starting Saturday morning, the bridge on Highway 27 South over Highway 411 will be closed and traffic will be detoured onto State Route 101.
