CWA on Strike at the Rome AT&T Call Center

August 26, 2019 – 4:15PM

Staff Report –

Cars honk and people wave as CWA workers of AT&T’s  East 2nd avenue call center location in Rome goes on strike.

According to the Communication Workers of America union Website:  “AT&T and its executives were leading and vocal proponents of the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2018, making specific promises on how large corporate tax cuts would benefit American workers. The company’s behavior since those tax cuts were enacted has directly contradicted those promises.”

The CWA statement also goes on to say this: “AT&T has refused to provide information that would allow its employees to hold the company accountable. Congressional oversight will ensure that AT&T executives are held accountable for their promises.”

The goal of this national widespread strike is to call on Congress to investigate recent AT&T Corporate business Practices regarding Job Creation and Tax Cuts.
