Sheriff Tim Burkhalter and volunteers with RomeGaCares have been assessing the damage caused by Hurricane Dorian along the Eastern Coast and are expected to begin collecting supplies this week.
They have been scouting locations to determine where they will be of the most assistance to those impacted.
North Rome Church of God is allowing RomeGaCares to use their facility again as the primary drop off spot for donations but they will also have a few remote collection locations.
If you want to donate money you can bring a check to the records lobby at the Floyd County Jail or you can call Chaplain David Thornton or Sergeant James Womack to arrange for someone to come and pick up your donation.
They will also soon have an option for online donations.
In addition to donations, they also need volunteers to help take in and load donations as they come into the sites.
If you would like to volunteer contact Chaplain David Thornton at 706-506-6120 or Sergeant James Womack at 706-591-6504.
