(Via WZQZ)  Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters issued a “State of Emergency” on Wednesday to help the City of Summerville deal with the ongoing crisis with the city’s water system.

The declaration will clear the way for help from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and allow groups like the Red Cross to help with bringing in drinking water until the issue can be resolved.

Summerville City Manager Janice Galloway told WZQZ News that the declaration will help speed up extra help that will provide resources for more drinkable water for the city’s water customers.

The city manager said that the city will be able to get smaller tanker trucks to place at the nursing home and schools to provide water on-site for those institutions.
