The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting that 42 people have died from influenza during the 2019-2020 flu season.

23 of those deaths have been among those 65 and older.

According to the latest weekly influenza report for the period of January 19 through January 25, there were 74 hospitalizations and four deaths.

There have been 1,375 hospitalizations since September 29.

Public health officials remind the public to wash their hands frequently, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze and if you are sick, stay home.

Flu sufferers should be free of a fever, without the use of a fever reducer, for at least 24 hours before returning to school or work.
