Two arrested on attempted child molestation charges

FLOYD COUNTY JAIL RECORDS

Floyd County Police arrested an Illinois man Tuesday night and a Georgia man early Wednesday on charges of criminal attempt to commit child molestation, obscene internet contact with a child and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

According to jail records, 32-year old Jonathan Donald McMurray of Wheeling, Illinois made contact with someone he believed to be a minor under the age of 16 on the internet and engaged in a sexual conversation.

He then traveled to an agreed-upon location in Floyd County to meet the child.

Police say McMurray was found in possession of two firearms.

Meanwhile, 55-year old Jeffrey Howard Cronin of Suwanee also engaged in a graphic online conversation with someone he thought was a minor and traveled to Floyd County to meet up.

He was also found with a firearm.

Cronin was additionally charged with the use of a computer to entice a child.
