(Via WEIS Radio) One person was transported to Floyd Medical Center after being involved in a single vehicle accident on Alabama Highway 9 south early Monday afternoon.
At around 1:25pm, a 1997 Ford left the roadway and crashed into a power pole, snapping it in half, sending live wires across the roadway, knocking out power to the area around three hours. The female driver – listed on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report as a resident of Piedmont – was ejected from her vehicle and was transported for treatment by Floyd EMS.
Also responding to the scene were the Ellisville Fire Department, the Cherokee County EMA and Cherokee Electric crews along with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
