[VIDEO] Two coronavirus cases confirmed in Georgia

March 3, 2020–6:19 a.m.

STAFF REPORTS

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced Monday night that the Centers for Disease Control has confirmed two cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Georgia.

Both are members of the same household in Fulton County.

One had recently traveled to Italy.

They are isolated at home and are doing well.

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey said her office will continue to look for contacts the two people may have had in an effort to stop the virus from spreading.

Despite these two cases, the coronavirus risk remains low.

In the meantime, there are things you can do to protect yourself.

  • Washing hands frequently
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
  • Staying home if you are sick and running a fever
  • Coughing or sneezing into your elbow or use a tissue to cover it and then throw the tissue in the trash
