March 11th, 2020 – 11:25 AM

Ethan Garrett – Digital News Editor & Video Reporter

On this WRGA News Community Spotlight, we take a look at End Slavery Georgia (See the video down below:)

We spoke with End Slavery Executive Director Debbie Crumbly and Director of Survivor Care  Danielle Mullen on what the organization does for the NWGA community.

Their mission: “To rescue, rebuild, and restore survivors of sex trafficking – To strategically combat human slavery in our community and state. End Slavery Georgia is committed to being a voice for the sexually exploited, who, in most cases, can’t speak up for themselves.”

End Slavery Georgia partners with other organizations including nonprofits, government agencies, and law enforcement to have girls rescued from Sex-trafficking/Slavery and protected in safe-houses.

They are able to provide these individuals with Professional counseling, Trauma Therapy, Medical Care, Spiritual Guidance, and Addiction Recovery.

They provide “A safe protective place for the victims to live, grow and experience the unconditional love and acceptance of God – a place where they can feel valued and esteemed; a place where they can find hope again.”

End Slavery Rome Georgia also utilizes an e-commerce program in which staff and volunteers process donated high end items and clothing before listing them for sale online. This revenue also helps fund the program’s safe-house and aides the organization.

Their e-commerce work program is also designed to empower survivors of sex trafficking and modern slavery by allowing them to engage in a workplace during their reintroduction phase of living in the safe house.

One of the programs that survivors also get to participate in is also End Slavery Georgia’s Pearl Project.

Pearl necklaces are handmade by a survivors and sold on the organization’s website to support the mission of End Slavery Georgia. ( Found at the link here: https://endslaveryga.org/the-pearl-project/ )

According to Danielle Mullen: “Just as a pearl is made under extreme pressure, we believe each necklace represents the beautiful survivors that made it. Every pearl was rescued from discarded jewelry and restored into a beautiful and unique necklace. Survivors have been used by their traffickers and tossed aside when they are no longer viewed as valuable. But we believe in finding the beauty through the ashes. We believe their story will be redeemed. Each necklace is handmade by a survivor and supports the mission of End Slavery Georgia.”

End Slavery Rome Georgia is always looking for Donations of things like various puzzles/board games, individually wrapped snacks and drinks, and coffee for the individuals housed in their safe-house.
