[VIDEO] Kemp gives COVID-19 Briefing: 25 dead in Georgia from COVID-19

On Monday afternoon, At the Georgia State Capitol, Governor Brian Kemp and Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey gave a briefing on COVID-19.

Governor Brian Kemp says that 25 Georgians have now died from COVID-19 and the number of cases has grown to 772 statewide.

During a media briefing Monday, Kemp also announced 23 testing sites at strategic locations, including Rome, Cartersville and Dalton.

However, there are limitations on who can be tested at these sites.

You must a referral from a medical provider, and tests are limited to elderly Georgians, members of the law enforcement community, first responders, long-term care facility residents and staff, and healthcare workers.

The governor also announced that over the weekend 268,200 N-95 surgical masks were distributed among all 142 hospitals in Georgia and 30 ventilators were delivered to Floyd and Dougherty Counties.

Kemp has also signed an executive order requiring the Georgia Department of Public Health to require certain individuals with an increased risk of complications from COVID-19 to isolate, quarantine or shelter in place.

The order covers those living in long-term care facilities, have chronic lung disease, are undergoing cancer treatment, have a positive COVID-19 test, are suspected of having COVID-19 because of their symptoms and exposure, or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19.

The executive order also closes all bars and nightclubs in the state and bans gatherings of 10 or more people.

The department of public health will have the authority to close any establishment that violates the order.

The executive order goes into effect at noon today and will expire at noon on April 6.
