Body found in Coosa creek identified

Authorities have identified a body found in a creek in the Coosa area on Sunday.

36-year old Kenneth Grover Sprayberry of Kingston had been a transient and was last seen about a week ago, according to Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor.

The cause of death remains under investigation.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED:

A 911 call was received on March 29th from a landowner in the Coosa area who discovered a body in a creek on his property.

According to information given by the Floyd County Coroner’s Office, The body recovered was a man: seemingly in his mid 30’s, with no ID on his person.

The coroner’s office determined that the man’s body had been in the creek for some time between 5 to 10 days: due to decomposition, the body was unidentified.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has stepped in to perform an autopsy.
