Authorities have identified the man who drowned Saturday evening in Lake Allatoona near the Little River Marina as 25-year old Jordan L. Jackson of Woodstock.
Jackson was trying to rescue his dog that jumped into the lake from his kayak and did not resurface.
Unconfirmed reports indicated that Jackson was with two other kayakers at the time of the incident.
The two kayakers jumped into the water in an attempt to rescue Jackson when he did not resurface.
A Cherokee County Fire Rescue Boat was launched and headed to the scene to begin the search for the victim by sonar.
Jackson’s body was recovered Sunday morning.
