Polk County Police Department reminds Georgians to watch out for Venomous Snakes this Spring

(From the Polk County Police Department:) With Spring in the air and the weather warming up snakes will be on the move. Currently there is only six venomous snakes native to Georgia. If you see these snakes keep your distance and try not to disturb them.

Also according to 27-1-28 of OCGA, it is illegal to trap or possess venomous snakes

  • Copperhead
  • Pigmy Rattlesnake
  • Timber Rattlesnake
  • Cottonmouth
  • Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake
  • Eastern Coral Snake

If you are bitten, remain calm. Call the Poison Control Center of Georgia and they can provide further advice. Also seek medical attention. Watch your steps, and also keep watch of your pets. 🐍🐍🐍
