[WATCH] Governor visits Floyd Medical Center Wednesday

Governor Brian Kemp was in Rome Wednesday to tour the new temporary mobile hospital unit that has been set up at Floyd Medical Center.

The 20-bed facility comes from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.

The governor then toured a temporary 200-bed field hospital that Floyd set up in its lower level parking deck located near the main entrance.

It has a concrete superstructure, it has a rooftop covering, and it has concrete flooring, HVAC, and ample lighting.

The governor said the hope is that these facilities will never have to be used.

After visiting the new drive-thru testing station that has been set up near the parking deck, the governor spoke to reporters and thanked the healthcare professionals for their hard work during the pandemic.

He also thanked the public for adhering to the Centers for Disease Control guidelines that allowed the state to begin opening back up for business.
