Georgia State Patrol investigating Fatal ATV Accident on Fouche Gap

Floyd County Police Department –

The Georgia State Patrol will be the investigating agency for an ATV wreck that occurred off Fouche Gap and resulted in the death of one man. The driver suffered a leg injury and was transported to an area hospital.

The Floyd County Police Department has requested GSP investigate the incident due to family relationship with the driver of the ATV and a member of the police department.

John Lively, of Rome, was driving a Jeep rock crawler when it rolled down an embankment off Wildlife Trail, a residential street located off the mountain road called Fouche Gap.

 Lively is the brother of the police department’s patrol commander Carl Lively. The deceased passenger has been identified by Floyd County Deputy Coroner Chris Giles as 61-year-old Rome man, Ronald Rohler.

The incident occurred around 6:21 p.m. The incident is still under investigation at this time. Any future inquiry should be directed to the Georgia State Patrol.
