Adairsville Police Department Assists Gordon County Sheriff’s Office in High-Speed Chase

Adairsville Police Department Press Release-

On Friday May 29th, 2020 Officers with the Adairsville Police Department were notified by Bartow 911 that
deputies with Gordon County Sheriff’s Office were in a vehicle pursuit on I-75 south bound with a black Nissan
SUV with a New York license plate. The vehicle was traveling between 110-120 MPH and had previously
eluded Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office on I-75 as well.

One officer with the Adairsville Police Department positioned himself on I-75 south mile marker 304 to
deploy spike strips. Another officer with Adairsville Police Department positioned himself on the exit 306
bridge to assist with the timing of the spike strips. The officer was able to successfully deploy his department
issued Stinger spike strips to safely end the pursuit. The vehicle ran over the strips with both front tires. The
APD officer recovered his equipment and then traveled south approximately a half mile to the location where
the pursuit successfully ended with the offender’s vehicle being disabled with flattened tires. Upon his arrival
both suspects were in custody by Gordon County Deputies. In the back seat of the vehicle were two children,
ages 1 and 4, which were unknown to Gordon County at the time of the pursuit. No citizens, children, officers
or vehicles were injured or damaged during the pursuit. The scene was then turned over to Gordon County
Sheriff’s Office to complete their investigation.
