Heroes Unified – Community Wide Blood Drive Scheduled for June 24th

June 10th, 2020 – 12:00 PM

Floyd County Government –

The annual Heroes Unified Blood Drive is scheduled for Wednesday June 24 from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. This is the big event for Blood Assurance and they always depend on a good showing from every one of us in the public safety and rescue community. Last year we had 104 donors who gave 124 units of blood, which surpassed the 100 units donated the previous year in 2018. Blood Assurance is in critical need of donations, especially with the pandemic shuttering their offices for several days. If we could again surpass our previous year total we would be sending a tremendous message to our community at large and helping others in need.

Incidents of trauma will likely increase during the warmer months so those units will be very much needed. Remember the mantra: 1 unit saves 3 lives.

Donuts and coffee will be available (at law enforcement center) in the morning and Blood Assurance will be grilling hot dogs closer to lunchtime. Two locations will again be used this year to promote better parking and ease of service for customers. Locations include the downtown law enforcement center and the Floyd County Jail. Reservations are not required but will get you through the line a bit quicker. Follow the links below:

Social distancing safeguards will be in place and protective masks will be provided for anyone with concerns.
