Cartersville man arrested after shooting, charged with murder

(Via WBHF Radio) One person is dead and another wounded following a shooting that occurred Sunday, June 28, 2020, at 31 Crump Road, Cartersville.

Clara Ashworth was killed and David Bagley was wounded.  A family member, David Turner was arrested and charged with murder.

Around 6:10 p.m., emergency crews began receiving calls of shots fired.

According to Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Reports, law enforcement noticed a large pile of shell casings in the driveway and an empty rifle magazine.

The exterior of the residence was littered with bullet holes.

Upon entering the home, officers saw Clara Ashworth lying in a corner, unresponsive and with obvious gunshot wounds to her face and abdomen.

Police found Charles Bagley in the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his stomach and blood on the floor.

Bagley told officers he was outside when his cousin David Turner pulled into the driveway and started firing rounds with his rifle.

Bagley said he was hit by gun fire and ran for cover.

Another person in the home, Donna Mills, reportedly told officers, she was in her room with the door closed when she heard Turner enter the house firing the gun.

She yelled at him through the door to stop shooting.

She said he said, “shut the **** up Aunt Donna” and continued shooting.

Bagley was airlifted to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Turner’s vehicle was spotted travelling north bound on Highway 41 near highway 411.

He was taken into custody without incident.  He is charged with Murder
