A couple of parades are slated for Saturday to celebrate the 4th of July.
Cave Spring will hold its annual Independence Day Parade starting at 9 a.m.
Anyone who would like to be in the parade is asked to line up at the depot starting at 8:15.
The fireworks show in Cave Spring has been postponed until August 29.
Meanwhile, in Downtown Rome, there will be a small Independence Day event on the lawn of the Law Enforcement Center from 2 pm until 5 pm Saturday.
The Exchange Club has been asked to participate by displaying the replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
In addition, there will be a small parade from the Center to Broad Street turning around at 2nd Avenue and returning to the Center.
The parade will include a color guard, some military vehicles, classic cars, and individuals walking in groups as well as some bands.
On Saturday evening July 4th the skies above Rome will be alight with Rome’s 2020 Fireworks Extravaganza presented by Redmond.
The show will begin right after dark, at approximately 9:50 on the evening of July 4th. This year, the fireworks will be launched from the top of Jackson Hill allowing more people than ever to be able to enjoy the display from around town.
Local radio station Q102 will serve as the soundtrack to the fireworks display. The station will broadcast patriotic music to go along with the show. Prior to the music, several Rome dignitaries will say some words on the broadcast.
There will be no organized July 4th activities in Ridge Ferry Park this year. The park will be closed to vehicular traffic but open to foot traffic.
