Surrounding school system dealing with COVID-19 cases

August 5, 2020–6:10 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

As students across the region head back to school, we are getting reports of students testing positive for COVID-19.

On Tuesday, the superintendent of the Chattooga County School System sent out a letter, stating that two students at Chattooga High School have tested positive.

As required, the district immediately contacted public health officials and the department of public health has contacted epidemiology to start contact tracing.

Meanwhile, WSB-TV reported Wednesday that four staff members at Mission Road Elementary School in Bartow County had tested positive.

A statement from the school system read:  “We follow the Department of Public Health time-cased return to school strategy for those with confirmed or suspected COVID-19.”

Bartow County students returned to class on Wednesday.
