Pfc. Joe Cardona named Rome PD Officer of the Year

Pfc. Joe Cardona has been with the Rome Police Department since March of 2016.

He is currently a school resource officer at Rome High School.

On March 29, Pfc. Cardona was off duty when he was alerted by a father whose nine-month old child was not breathing.

He performed CPR on the child until EMS arrived.

Thanks to the officer’s actions, the child survived.

Cardona said he was honored and humbled by the recognition.

Since joining the Rome Police Department, Pfc. Cardona has received the Lifesaving Award twice and has been named Officer of the Month twice.
