Floyd County Commission meets Tuesday

The Floyd County Commission is expected to approve a Georgia Department of Transportation request for additional TEA funds for the Redmond Trail connection when they meet Tuesday night.

The original federal award for the project was $400,000 with a $100,000 local match for a total of $500,000.00.

The low bid for this project came in at just over $838,000.

Georgia DOT may be able to increase the total Federal amount by just over $270,522, therefore, increasing the local match by $67,631.

The revised local contribution will be comprised of funds from Floyd County by way of 2017 SPLOST infrastructure funds in the amount of $70,179.00.

The City of Rome will contribute $70,179 and TRED will contribute $25,000.00.

Commissioners will consider a Special Use Permit for a special events venue at 796 Wilkerson Road and the establishment of new rates at the Walker Mountain Landfill that would go into effect June 1.

The commission is also expected to approve the purchase of bar equipment, countertops, and serving tables as part of the renovation project at State Mutual Stadium.

The meeting will be held at the Forum River Center.

Caucus will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Floyd Room, followed by the Board Meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Ballroom.

The meetings are open to the public.
