Woman charged with vehicular homicide in March 4 wreck

A Rome woman has been charged with felony 1st-degree vehicular homicide in connection with a deadly wreck that occurred on March 4.

According to the arrest warrants, 49-year old Michelle Cantu crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic on North Avenue at Wolf Drive and struck another vehicle.

A passenger in Cantu’s car, 37-year old Hector Guzman, was fatally injured.

Cantu was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the wreck, according to the warrants.

Cantu was also charged with DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road, and failure to maintain a lane.
