New “3-Feet” bike law now in effect

July 6, 2021–10:36 a.m.

CITY OF ROME

The City of Rome is reminding motorists that there is a new “3-Feet” bike law in Georgia.

It requires drivers to give cyclists 3 feet of space on Georgia roads.

If there’s an available lane, you are required to get over.

You can now cross a double yellow or white line to give three feet of space

If you can’t cross the line because of oncoming traffic or it’s not safe to do so, you must slow down by at least 10 miles per hour less than the posted speed limit when passing.

Motorists Passing Cyclists: “3-Feet-Law”
