Rome, Floyd County announces Highway 411 land purchase

August 10, 2021–6:50 p.m.

The Floyd County Board of Commissioners, the City of Rome, and the Rome-Floyd Development Authority have secured an option for the purchase of more than 202 acres of land from the Braden family, fronting Highway 411.

According to a news release issued Tuesday evening, the property will give any future and current industries the opportunity to expand to the eastern portion of the community.

It also coordinates with previous efforts where additional rights of way were purchased for frontage roads, which is expected to provide connectivity while also preventing congestion along the route.

The Rome-Cartersville Development Corridor is also considered vital to growth in connecting future industry to I-75.

The purchase price is $20,000.00 per acre for a total of $4,196,800, which included payment for a structure on the property.

Voters approved funding for real estate and infrastructure for economic development and job creation included in the 2013 and 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax packages.
