The Rome City Commission has voted to extend the downtown open container ordinance permanently.
A trial period has been in effect for the past three months and was set to expire later this week.
Rome Police and city officials have been monitoring activity during the trial period for any possible increase in crimes or alcohol-related incidents.
City Commissioner Randy Quick said that over the trial period, there were no incidents, whatsoever.
The same guidelines for the trial period will remain in effect for the unlimited extension.
