A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Polk County.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the incident occurred on Cason Road near South Main Street.
The preliminary investigation shows the vehicle fled the scene after striking the unidentified man.
A red Ford Ranger was located on Benedict Loop, near its intersection with Highway 27, a short distance from the crash scene.
The pickup truck appeared to have been involved in a crash and the driver, 41-year old Jason Ingram, was possibly intoxicated.
Ingram was arrested and is charged with hit and run, vehicular homicide, and DUI
The unidentified pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and attempts are being made to make a positive identification.
