STAFF REPORTS
It’s back to school Wednesday for students in the Floyd County School System following an extended holiday.
Schools have been closed since last Friday due to a recent increase in staff absences due to COVID-19 and other reasons.
During the break, the school system completed a deep clean of all school facilities in an effort to prevent the spread of illnesses.
As of January 13, Alto Park, Armuchee Elementary, Armuchee High, Coosa Middle, Model Middle, and Pepperell Elementary all had COVID-19 infection rates of more than two percent, which requires a mask mandate.
Rome City School System students returned to class on Tuesday, after being off since Friday for the same reason as the county.
All Rome City Schools currently have a mask mandate in place since all schools are reporting an infection rate of more than one percent.
