Bartow Sheriff gives update on fatal Adairsville shooting

(Via WBHF Radio) According to a press release from Sheriff Clark Millsap, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, shortly before 8 a.m., Uniform Patrol Deputies and Criminal Investigators were dispatched to 546 Fieldwood Drive NW, Adairsville in reference to an in-progress emergency call for service.

E-911 Dispatchers quickly escalated the call after hearing a verbal altercation, possible gunshots, and loss of contact with the caller during the call-taking process.  Deputies and assisting Officers with the Adairsville Police Department were able to make phone contact with the suspect/ William David Fletcher, 31, who resides at the residence.

Fletcher agreed to surrender and exited the residence. Fletcher complied with commands and was taken to custody without incident.  Deputies then entered into the residence and located the victim/ Kelly Fletcher, 61, with multiple gunshot wounds. 

Emergency Medical Services attempted first aid but were unsuccessful and she was later pronounced deceased.

William Fletcher is currently charged with Murder and being held without bond.

Officials with the BCSO say there have no further information or comments at this time.

NOTE: WBHF Radio incorrectly reported that Fletcher was arrested on an Adairsville practice field behind the home.
