Georgia gas prices fall another 8 cents

Georgia gas prices continue to decline at the pump compared to a week ago.

Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $3.87 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.

Monday’s state average is 8 cents less than a week ago, 27 cents more than last month, and $1.16 more than this time last year.

Since early March, Georgians have seen a 42 cents decrease at the pumps.

State legislation to suspend the state’s gas tax has helped, along with a drop in demand, and lower crude prices.

Also, the Biden Administration’s announcement of the largest Strategic Petroleum Reserve release in history appears to have an influence on lower gas prices around the country.

Local averages on Monday were $3.82 in Floyd County, $3.79 in Bartow County, $3.78 in Gordon County, $3.89 in Polk County, and $3.63 in Chattooga County.
