A 54-year old Rome man is facing a felony charge of interference with government property, a misdemeanor count of fleeing or attempting to elude, and multiple traffic violations in connection with an incident back on March 15.
According to Floyd County Jail records, John Anthony Mathis was driving the wrong way on Broad Street and sideswiped a police car as the officer was attempting to make a traffic stop.
Mathis also failed to follow police commands after a pursuit, resulting in an obstruction charge.
He was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was additionally charged with DUI.
