On Monday, Rome and Floyd County residents will gather at the Coosa Valley Fairground to remember those in the military who gave their lives in defense of freedom.
The annual Memorial Day observance ceremony presented by the Exchange Club of Rome begins Monday at 10 a.m.
The guest speaker will be retired US Army Colonel D. Heath Williams.
The ceremony will also include a wreath-laying, recognition of local Gold Star Families, a firing volley, a Civil War replica cannon firing, and the playing of Taps.
Military history displays will continue from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the fairgrounds following the ceremony.
