The Rome City Commission voted Tuesday night to move forward with the sale of a small tract of land in Eagle Park.
John Mayes has requested to purchase 30 feet of city-owned property, adjacent to his business.
Commissioner Jim Bojo, who chairs the redevelopment committee, made a motion to proceed with the sale by turning over the tract of land to the Land Bank Authority.
The motion was approved by a vote of 8 to 0.
The parks and recreation board had previously gone on record opposing the sale.
Parks and rec. is currently in the process of developing a 10-year comprehensive plan, they did not feel that any portion of the park should be sold.
