Man charged in second armed robbery

A man arrested earlier this week in connection with an armed robbery at the Big H store on East 12th Street has now also been charged in a robbery that occurred Saturday at the Hi-Tech on South Broad Street.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 46-year-old Lamar Cantrell Hunter entered the store at around 8:35 a.m. Saturday, armed with a pistol.

He then threatened the employee and demanded all the money from the cash purse.

Hunter is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Hunter has also been charged with 2nd –degree burglary in connection with an incident dating back to September of 2019.

That arrest warrant states that he forcefully entered the Dollar Tree on Maple Street while it was closed for business.

According to the arrest warrant, Lamar Cantrell Hunter entered the Big H store on East 12th Street, brandishing a pistol.

He then demanded money from the cash register.

Hunter got away with $327.

He is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Hunter is also facing an aggravated stalking charge in connection with an incident on July 29 in which he entered a woman’s residence on Crane Street, violating a conditional bond.
