A Car Chase in Chattooga County turned into a fatal accident last Friday (According to a report from WZQZ Radio).
On September 16th at approximately 2 pm, a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a white Ford passenger car on Highway 27 in the area of Silver Hill road for speeding (doing 83 mph in a 65 mph zone).
40-year-old Derricus Camp of an Atlanta and Summerville address was asked to submit to a sobriety test after the deputy smelled a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. Camp fled in his vehicle, almost running over the foot of the deputy.
The Georgia State Patrol joined the chase traveling south through Gore, clocking Camp’s vehicle at speeds up to 117 mph. Camp’s vehicle left the roadway near the top of a ridge and he suffered fatal injuries. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
