According to Floyd county jail records, a 59-year-old Rome man was arrested yesterday after reports of him shoving his 84-year-old mother down on a couch and telling her she was going to watch him commit suicide. Richard Garcia of a Heights drive address then refused to let the victim dial 911 for help.
Garcia is being charged with exploitation and intimidation of an elderly person, obstructing or hindering persons making emergency telephone calls, and battery.
