Floyd County Commisson meets Tuesday

Floyd County Commissioners will consider a number of agenda items when they meet Tuesday.

During the caucus, which starts at 4 p.m., the commission will go into executive session to discuss property, litigation, and personnel.

During the regular meeting, the commission will read proclamations for Agriculture Week, and American Red Cross Month.

The commission is also expected to approve a contract for Chris Fincher as the new assistant director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency.

Also during the regular meeting, which begins at 6 p.m., the commission is expected to approve several purchases.

Consent agenda

  1. Consider a request from Purchasing to approve the purchase of one (1) used 2022 Bobcat T770 in the amount of $35,980 using funds from GL Account # 500646 – 67040. The request includes the trade-in of a 2006 John Deere Skid Steer and a 2013 GHEL V330. This is part of a yearly agreement with Rhinehart Equipment in order to keep the equipment under warranty and avoid costly maintenance.
  • Consider a request from Purchasing to approve the purchase of one (1) new Bobcat T770 Track Loader in the amount of $9,800 for the Water Department from GL Account # 500646 – 67040. This is a program with Rhinehart Equipment Company to replace the Track Loader yearly to keep it under warranty and avoid costly maintenance.
  • Consider a request from the Purchasing to approve the purchase of two (2) New Bobcat E42 Compact Excavators in the amount of $16,990 for the Water Department from GL Account # 500646 – 67040. This is a program with Rhinehart Equipment to replace the Excavators yearly to keep them under warranty and avoid costly maintenance.
  •  Consider a request to approve architectural services by the Sizemore Group for multiple Floyd County buildings. The cost is $21,600 to update for space needs and $27,200 for test fit, cost, and schedule.
  • Consider a request from the Sheriff’s Office to transfer Position Number 441-076 from Floyd County Prison back to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. This position was moved to the Floyd County Prison to accommodate the transfer of an employee from the Sheriff’s Office. It was agreed upon that when that employee was no longer employed with Floyd County, then the position would come back to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. The individual is no longer employed with Floyd County. This would be a salary transfer of $32,710 to GL Account # 100441 – 50000.
  • Consider a request from Parks and Recreation to approve a community grant from Shaw Industries Group for the Backyard BBQ Bash. The grant is for $1,000 and will go to GL Account # 530816 – 45510.
  • Consider the request from Purchasing to approve the purchase of one (1) Bobcat E60 Mini Excavator or Equal with one (1) 12 Ton Better Built Trailer or Equal from Rhinehart Equipment in the amount of $88,000 using funds from GL Account # 500646 – 67040.

New Business

  1. Consider a request from Public Works to approve a capital equipment budget revision and budget increase to GL Account # 319639 – 66127 – 60025. The revision portion is to reallocate $75,000 of approved funds to split between the purchase of one additional F350 Crew Cab Dump Truck and two (2) F250 Pickup Trucks. The budget increase is for additional funds in the amount of $80,000 that are needed to purchase the two (2) F250 Pickup Trucks. This was approved at the most recent Public Utilities and Transportation Committee meeting.
  • Consider a request from Purchasing to approve the purchase of two (2) traffic signal cabinets from Utilicom in the amount of $31,290 using 2017 SPLOST funds from GL Account # 319639- 66127 – 60025.
  • Consider a request from the Sheriff’s Office to purchase radios for three Sheriff’s Office vehicles from Williams Communications in the amount of $13,925 using 2017 SPLOST funds from GL Account # 319639 – 66127 – 60025.
  • Consider a request from Purchasing to approve the purchase of body cameras for the Floyd County Police Department from Safe Fleet Mobile-Vision in the amount of $31,620 using 2017 SPLOST funds from GL Account # 319639 – 66131 – 60041. This will require a budget increase of $2,820. This vendor is a single-source vendor and is compatible with equipment and technology already in use by Floyd County Police Department.
  • Consider a request from Purchasing to approve additional funds to complete the replacement of gate section 209 – gates 6 & 9 at the Rome Braves Stadium. This was budgeted in the 2017 SPLOST. The work was procured and a purchase order was created, however, the vendor was not able to complete in 2022 and funds were not moved to 2023 to complete the project. This would be an increase of $5,710 to GL Account # 319639 – 66130 – 60036.
