Rome Police Department –
A multi-jurisdictional police task force is working today in South Rome as part of an operation in which officers will be serving arrest and search warrants at several locations.
The police activity is part of a comprehensive program that has included months of investigation and reporting of criminal activity in the South Rome Community.
Operation Save Our Seniors (S.O.S.) is a community impact project with the goal of protecting senior members of the South Rome community, who acknowledged that they could not go out and enjoy their neighborhood due to gun violence and drug sales.
The task force includes the Rome Police Department, Floyd County Police Department, Floyd County Sheriff, SWAT, Rome-Floyd Metro Drug Task Force, and the local team from DEA High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area.
Numerous hours of intelligence gathering and surveillance have found sufficient probable cause to obtain both search and arrest warrants for several residences and persons.
