Man charged with aggravated assault following altercation involving a sword

A Rome man was arrested Monday after Rome Police responded to an apartment on Davis Street in reference to an altercation involving a sword.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

The victim told officers that his downstairs neighbor, 54-year-old Kenneth Jeffery Saxton, put a sword to his throat and threatened him with it.

Saxton admitted that he pulled out the sword and said that he used it to block the victim’s way when he came down the stairs.

Saxton is charged with aggravated assault.

Plainville man charged with terroristic threats and acts

A Plainville man is accused of making threats while at a residence on Cave Spring Road in Rome Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

34-year-old Samuel Adam Kimbrough told his ex-girlfriend that he was going to shoot her.

He threatened to shoot a second person as well.

Kimbrough also used a knife to cut the front and rear end tires of a vehicle and then took the victim’s clothing and tried to set them on fire.

Kimbrough is charged with two counts of terroristic threats and acts and a single count of criminal trespass-damage to property.

Man accused of making threats at GDCS office on Marable Way

A 28-year-old Rome man was jailed Monday following an incident at the Georgia Department of Community Supervision office on Marable Way.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Zachary Clayton Lankford broke a vase and threatened to kill an officer and a nurse.

Lankford is charged with criminal trespass-damage to property and two counts of terroristic threats and acts.

Woman charged with animal cruelty

A Rome woman was arrested at her Watson Street home Monday on a single count of cruelty to animals.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

39-year-old Brandy Nicole Sours neglected to take a sick dog to the vet for treatment.

Woman arrested for burglary

An arrest has been made in connection with a burglary that occurred back on Feb. 9 on Alabama Highway.

According to an arrest warrant:

33-year-old Rebecca Paulette Clayton entered an outbuilding and stole a chainsaw bar and electrical wire.

Clayton is additionally charged with two counts of theft by taking and one count of criminal trespass.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges

A traffic stop for a seatbelt violation on Chambers Mill Road at Reeceburg Road in Silver Creek ended with the arrest of two people on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

A search of the vehicle turned up a baggie containing suspected cocaine.

47-year-old Daniel Johnson Fortenberry and 42-year-old Angela Jessie Fortenberry were then found with suspected cocaine once at the jail.

Both are charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail, and not wearing a seat belt.

Daniel Johnson Fortenberry was additionally charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime.
