Blood left at the scene of a 2018 burglary leads to arrest

A blood sample collected at the scene of a burglary helps police nab a suspect.

According to an arrest warrant on file at the Floyd County Jail:

20-year-old Walter Marquez Kirby of Rome entered a home on Church Street and took more than $500 in gaming equipment back in August of 2018.

The state crime lab was able to match the blood to Kirby’s DNA.

Kirby is charged with 1st-degree burglary.

Man charged with burglary, aggravated stalking

A 38-year-old Rome man was jailed Tuesday on charges of aggravated stalking, 1st-degree burglary, and failure to appear in court.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Derick Wayne Mobbs entered a home on Lewis Drive on April 13 and made contact with the victim.

Mobbs was on bond for an aggravated assault charge.

As part of that bond, Mobbs was ordered by a judge to have no direct or indirect contact with the victim.

Man accused of making fake lottery ticket transactions

A Rome man is accused of making fake transactions for lottery tickets.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

51-year-old Mark Anthoney Willamon printed receipts for the transactions without rendering proper payment.

He also took several items from the convenience store at 2930 Martha Berry Highway by making fake transactions for them.

Willamon is charged with theft by taking, theft by shoplifting, and theft by deception.

Probable cause search leads to drug arrests

Three Rome men were arrested on drug charges at Heritage Park on Tuesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

45-year-old Jesus Trevino, 48-year-old James Henry Perkins, and 33-year-old Stevelle Lavelle Henderson were found with methamphetamine, less than an ounce of marijuana, digital scales, and a glass smoking device during a probable cause search of their vehicle.

An open container of Fireball whiskey was also in the vehicle.

All three men are charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, and open container.

Report: Man intentionally closed door on woman’s hand

A Rome man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a home on Wayside Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

33-year-old Alex Michael Monroe closed a door on the hand of a woman to prevent her from leaving the residence.

He also broke a window.

Monroe is charged with false imprisonment, battery, and criminal trespass (damage to property).
