The Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission will consider a rezoning request for a 72-unit apartment complex between Carter Avenue and North Second Avenue south of Iron Street when they meet Thursday.

The applicant is seeking a zoning change from Multifamily Residential to Urban Mixed Use to allow for denser development.

The planning commission will also consider a special use permit for a yoga retreat at 601 Morgan Dairy Road near Cave Spring.

Another application seeks a rezoning from Multifamily Residential to Heavy Industrial for parcels near the Kellogg’s plant off Old Lindale Road.

The meeting begins at 2:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.

Actions taken by the planning commission are just recommendations.

The Rome City and Floyd County Commissions will have the final say.
