Three arrested for drugs, stolen firearm
Three Rome men were arrested early Thursday after police found a stolen handgun, high-concentrated THC oil, and multiple packages of suspected marijuana during a traffic stop on Smith Road at Manning Lake Road.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
28-year-old Trayron Marquez Bexley, 20-year-old Tahiri Durand Tolbert, and 31-year-old Nicholas Dimetrious Alexander Butts are charged with theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
Butts is also charged with failure to maintain a lane and driving without a license in his possession.
The suspected marijuana was in packages labeled “Cannabis.”
Report: Man kicked open apartment door
A Garden Lakes man is facing felony charges of 1st-degree burglary, theft by taking, and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property following his arrest Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
29-year-old Ulric Demond Allen Jr. kicked in the door of an apartment on Maryland Drive, causing $1,200 in damage.
He then took $1,000 and a cell phone belonging to the victim.
Delivery driver accused of forging tips
A 43-year-old Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with 2nd-degree forgery.
According to the warrant:
Toddrick Rayon Burdette, while working as a delivery driver, used a Marco’s Pizza app to sign customers’ names to falsely authorize tips electronically.
The transactions cost the business an estimated $381.36 between February 1 and May 3 of this year.
Burdette is also charged with a misdemeanor count of theft by deception.
Man charged with leaving the scene of an accident
A Rome man is facing various misdemeanor charges after fleeing the scene of a wreck Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Gamaliel Mendoza-Calmo failed to yield the right of way, causing the collision that resulted in an injury.
He then drove away.
Police caught up with Mendoza-Calmo on Woodbine Avenue, where he parked his vehicle in the middle of the intersection of Landers Drive and fled on foot.
Mendoza-Calmo is charged with five counts of obstruction of officers, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield, improper turn, stopping or parking in the roadway, and no license.
