The Rome City Commission has approved the appointment of Courtnay Griffin as the new director of the Rome Transit Department.
Griffin is a native of Rome, who has been with the city for eight years.
She is currently the assistant transit director.
“She started with the city over in the community development office,” said Rome City Manager Sammy Rich. “She has really worked her way up and has emerged as a leader. I’m really excited to see where we go from here. We have spent a lot of time talking about what we have kind of deemed ‘transportation 2.0’ and what the future is going to look like. We are excited to have Courtnay at the helm and I think she’s going to do some excellent things as we look to reinvent ourselves as a transit agency.”
Griffin replaces Kathy Shealy, who recently retired after 50 years with the City of Rome.
