Gordon County Sheriff’s Office –
On Saturday evening, June 10, a “road rage” incident began near the Georgia – Tennessee state line on Interstate 75 involving two tractor-trailer trucks.
The two trucks, after entering Georgia, drove southbound on the Interstate, with one truck, according to witnesses, attempting to force the other from the roadway.
The incident allegedly began with one truck attempting to change lanes. The trucks continued southward through Whitfield County into Gordon County, where one of the drivers fired a shot from a handgun into the driver’s compartment of the other truck.
The victim/driver was struck and injured by flying shards of glass from the shot but managed to notify 911 and followed the offender into Bartow County.
The offender, subsequently identified as one Nasha Jeuel Johnson, age 25, of Boynton Beach, Florida, was apprehended by State Troopers on Interstate 75 in Bartow County.
The victim stopped at a truck stop near the Cass-White Exit and was located by Bartow County Deputy Sheriffs. Gordon County Sheriff’s Detectives went to Bartow County and took custody of the offender, took statements from the victim and other witnesses, and also had the offender’s truck taken to the Sheriff’s Office.
There, detectives executed a search warrant for the truck and discovered the handgun believed to have been used in the assault, as well as other physical evidence.
Johnson was jailed and charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggressive Driving, and Pointing a Pistol at Another. The victim was treated and released from Cartersville Medical Center.
Johnson remains in custody pending bond.
