Man accused of attacking two people with a knife
A 48-year-old Rome was arrested early Thursday following a knife attack on Larkspur Lane.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Dax Corbin Clement busted into the room of a 47-man and a 50-year-old woman, cutting one of the victims on the neck and the other on the face.
The incident occurred in the presence of a child.
Clement was under a conditional bond stating he have no violent contact with the female victim.
Clement is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and single counts of aggravated stalking, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
Man charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment
A 30-year-old Breman man is accused of assaulting a woman at a residence on Kingston Avenue Wednesday.
According to the arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
Gregory Frank Walker pressed his thumbs against the victim’s throat, impeding her ability to breathe to the point where she almost passed out.
Walker pinned the woman to the floor and knelt on her, stopping her from leaving.
He also struck the victim several times with his hands, leaving multiple bruises.
Walker is charged with aggravated assault, battery, and false imprisonment.
Man charged with animal cruelty
A 40-year-old Rome man has been charged with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to the arrest warrant:
Michael Vernon Davis failed to get immediate veterinary care for her dog which suffered from a fracture of the right femur.
The leg was rendered useless and disfigured from the injury, requiring amputation.
Davis is the second person to be arrested in this case.
36-year-old Jennifer Dawn Heath was charged with aggravated animal cruelty earlier in the week.
Convicted felon accused of possessing a firearm
A 40-year-old Rome woman was arrested Wednesday on a felony warrant charging her with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to the warrant:
Ashley Mandrell Watkins found a 9mm while cleaning a room at the Saga Inn on Martha Berry Highway between June 8 and June 10.
She took the gun and gave several different accounts of what happened to it before leading officers to the firearm at a different location.
