Two charged with burglary
Two people were arrested over the weekend in connection with a burglary on Mathis Road.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
35-year-old Tiffany Faye Garrett and 41-year-old Terry Lee Smith Jr., both of Rome, entered the residence and used trash bags belonging to the victim.
Both are charged with 1st-degree burglary.
There was a protective order, prohibiting Garrett from being on the property.
She was also found on the property on June 29, according to an arrest warrant.
Garrett is additionally charged with two counts of aggravated stalking.
Drug trafficking charges filed against Rome man
A Rome man was arrested on drug trafficking charges following a consent search of a motel room on Martha Berry Boulevard.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
43-year-old Jason Allen Parris possessed more than 28 grams of methamphetamine in multiple bags, along with digital scales and smoking devices.
He was also found with multiple bags of marijuana and a bag of suspected fentanyl.
In addition to trafficking, Parris is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of both meth and marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.
Man states “I have drugs,” and gets arrested
A 33-year-old Rome man was arrested at a location on Martha Berry Boulevard after stating “I have drugs.”
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Police then found a small bag of suspected methamphetamine in Jonathan Henry Gable’s front pocket.
Gable is charged with possession of meth.
Report: Man made threat during phone call
A Rome man was arrested Sunday on a felony count of terroristic threats and acts.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
20-year-old Franklin Phillip Millen IV called the mother of his girlfriend on the phone.
He then threatened to go to the woman’s home and shoot his girlfriend.
Millen is known to carry a gun.
The victim had the phone on speaker and the threat was heard by coworkers standing by.
Man runs from police, and is charged with stealing handcuffs
A homeless man is accused of taking handcuffs from a Rome Police officer back on July 2.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
34-year-old Michael David Brown, whose address is listed as ‘under the Martha Berry Boulevard Bridge near the post office,’ was being arrested on a felony warrant for failure to appear, when he ran after being handcuffed.
Brown was located and arrested on Sunday.
He is charged with misdemeanor obstruction and a misdemeanor count of theft by taking for the handcuffs, which are valued at $45.
