Highway 140 (Turkey Mountain Road) between Old Dalton Road and Kellett Road was shut down for several hours Wednesday morning following a fiery crash involving a garbage truck and a tractor-trailer.
According to Floyd County Police:
The garbage truck was pulled to the side of the road, picking up garbage, when it was struck by the tractor-trailer, which then caught fire.
A passerby helped to get the driver of the tractor-trailer out of the cab.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The cab of the tractor-trailer was completely burned and the trailer portion had to be unloaded before it could be moved from the scene.
