Man charged with aggravated animal cruelty
A Rome man was arrested at his Ross Street residence last week on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to the warrant:
57-year-old Vincent Shariff Maxwell failed to provide proper veterinary care for a dog named “Chico.”
The dog had open wounds that were infested with maggots.
Veterinary staff determined that “Chico” was in pain, starving, anemic, and had a grave prognosis.
The dog had to be euthanized.
Man charged with aggravated stalking, interference with government property
A 43-year-old Rome man is facing charges of aggravated stalking and interference with government property following his arrest on Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Stanley Lamar Sullivan violated a temporary protective order by contacting the victim and harassing him.
Sullivan also damaged government property by causing a rear light bar in the police patrol vehicle to fall out of place.
Woman charged with meth possession
A 40-year-old Rome woman was jailed recently on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Amy Christina Hendrix had a bag of suspected methamphetamine, a bag of suspected marijuana, and a glass smoking device while at a location on Shorter Avenue.
She is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.
Disorderly conduct, drug charges filed against Rome man
A 60-year-old Rome man was arrested last week after allegedly causing a disturbance in a public place on Turner McCall Boulevard.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
James Henry Laster was using obscene and vulgar language towards others.
He was then found with prescription drugs that did not belong to him.
Laster was charged with disorderly conduct and possession of dangerous drugs.
