Charges filed in fatal wreck
Charges have been filed in connection with a wreck on Shorter Avenue at Tamassee Lane that ultimately claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
26-year-old Clayton Dakota Hartley of Rome is charged with 2nd-degree vehicular homicide and a stop sign violation and had already bonded out on the misdemeanor charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Hartley caused the wreck on July 4 by running the stop sign at the intersection.
His Chevy Camaro collided with a motorcycle, injuring 63-year-old William Robertson
Last week, police were notified that Robertson had succumbed to his injuries.
Jail inmate charged with battery, unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution
An inmate at the Floyd County Jail is accused of hitting another inmate in the face with a food tray.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Stephan Omar Bell also punched the victim, leaving visible injuries.
Bell, who has been incarcerated since June 24 for a probation violation, is now also charged with battery and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.
