A third arrest has been made in a shooting that occurred during a burglary on Brandon Lane off Smith Road back on May 31.
According to the arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
23-year-old Marcus Anthony Scott of Rome was with the other individuals when a firearm was discharged at the homeowner, who was hit in the legs and buttocks area.
Shots were fired from the roadway into the residence, causing damage.
Two doors to the home were also damaged when they were kicked in.
Scott also falsely reported his vehicle, which had been used in the crimes, had been stolen.
Scott is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, 1st-degree burglary, 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, discharge of a firearm near a public street, and false report of a crime.
28-year-old Trayron Marquez Bexley and 20-year-old Tahiri Durand Tolbert were arrested in connection with the burglary and assault during a traffic stop on June 1.
Another man, 31-year-old Nicholas Dimetrious Alexander Butts, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and obstruction for assisting in another person’s escape during the traffic stop.
Butts has not been charged in the shooting and burglary.
